Redshirt Sophomore Ball State Offensive Guard Taran Tyo (6’4″/326) will be taking an Official Visit next week. A member of PM3Sports, the Sports Management Agency that represents Tyo, confirmed with me that the visit is taking place.

Tyo started all 12 games at Right Guard in 2023 as a Redshirt Freshman. Entering this season, he earned Preseason All-MAC honors by Athlon and College Football Network. It turns out the Preseason honors were prophetic. Tyo earned 3rd Team All-MAC honors for his efforts this season.

Tyo possesses versatility. In 2023 he started every game at Right Guard, and he started 11 of 12 games at Right Tackle this season.

He was the 2nd highest graded member of the Ball State offense this year according to PFF, posting a grade of 78.3. For what it’s worth, that’s a better grade than any NC State Offensive Lineman this season. Tyo knows how to open holes in the run game, with a Run Blocking Grade of 81.0.

Obviously, players are trickling into the Transfer Portal, but as thing currently stand, Tyo is the #10 overall player in the Portal according to ON3, and the #1 Offensive Lineman. ON3 rates him as a 4-Star Transfer Prospect.

NC State is looking to replace 4 of their 5 staring Offensive Linemen in 2025. Redshirt Sophomore Right Tackle Jacarrius Peak is the only starter that has any years of eligibility left.

It’s a good sign that the Wolfpack already have an Official Visit lined up with an Offensive Lineman of Tyo’s caliber.
