Look, I know this is a website that covers NC State, but don’t pretend that you’re not interested in the details of the contract that UNC just gave Bill Belichick their new Head Coach.

Belichick signed a 5-year deal that pays out $10 million annually. His annual salary is tied for the 6th highest in college football.

The first three years of the contract are guaranteed, but year 4 and 5 are not. If Belichick decided to leave for another position (college or pro) before June 1st of next year, they would have to pay $10 million. After that, the buyout will be $1 million. This means, if Bill wanted to jump to the NFL after one season, it wouldn’t cost all that much relatively.

The bonus structure of Belichick’s contract is insanely lucrative, with the possibility of earning up to an additional $3.5 million per year.

Bill’s father Steve was an Assistant Coach at UNC from 1953-55. At his press conference, Bill said that his first words as a kid were “Beat Duke.”

The good news is, Dave Doeren’s mantra is “Beat UNC.”

Welcome to the ACC Bill!

The boys in Red and White down the road have beat your baby blue boys in 4 straight games, 4 of the last 5 games, 7 of the last 9 games, 13 of the last 18 games, 5 of the last 6 games in Chapel Hill and 7 of the last 9 in Kenan Stadium…I mean Carter-Finley West Stadium.
