Former NC State Quarterback Grayson McCall is joining Coastal Carolina’s staff as Offensive Analyst.

“Thrilled to be able to welcome Grayson McCall back home to Teal Nation,” Beck said. “I have spoken before on the immeasurable impact he made here – both on the game and in our community – and we couldn’t be more excited that he will start his coaching career at Coastal. I am looking forward to seeing what Drew Hollingshead and Grayson can do while working together to elevate our offense to new heights.”

“So fired up to come back home!” McCall said. “I’m very thankful for Coach Beck and Coach Hollingshead for giving me such a great opportunity. Can’t wait to light up the scoreboard in Brooks just like old times!!! Chants Up!” (Link)

McCall spent his first 5 seasons as a Quarterback at Coastal Carolina, where won the Sun Belt Player of the Year Award in 2020, 2021 and 2022. He is Coastal’s all-time leader in total touchdowns responsible (106), touchdown passes (88) and passing yards (10,005).

If you take a look at McCall’s career numbers at Coastal, you’re looking at video game statistics.

178.4 Passing Efficiency Rating

88 Touchdowns/14 Interceptions

69.9% Completion Percentage

1,113 Rushing Yards
18 Rushing Touchdowns

After this season, McCall’s Career Passing Efficiency Rating of 174.7 ranks 8th in College Football history.

McCall transferred to NC State this past offseason for his final year of eligibility, and things didn’t pan out the way he would have liked. After suffering two concussions in 2024, McCall had to retire from the game of football after the Wake Forest game.

After his retirement, Wolfpack head coach Dave Doeren let McCall get a head start at pursuing his coaching career, allowing him to help coach the Quarterbacks, sit in the offensive coaching meetings and wear a headset.

I was wondering where McCall would land for his first coaching opportunity, and this is the perfect storybook landing spot.
