#20 NC State Women’s Basketball Secures Fifth Consecutive Win, Dominating Virginia Tech 85-57

The 20th-ranked NC State Women’s Basketball team (16-4, 8-1) won their fifth straight game today, defeating Virginia Tech (14-6, 5-4) 85-57 at Reynolds Coliseum. The Wolfpack is now tied for second place with Duke, trailing Notre Dame by only half a game.

The Pack was lights out, shooting an impressive 56.3% from the field—their best shooting performance of the year. They held the Hokies to 39.3% shooting. NC State has kept their opponents under 40% shooting in consecutive games.

NC State dominated inside, scoring 50 of their 85 points in the paint. They also excelled in transition, scoring 20 points on fast breaks compared to Virginia Tech’s 5. The Wolfpack capitalized on the Hokies’ mistakes, scoring 16 points off turnovers, while Virginia Tech managed to convert NC State’s eight turnovers into only two points.

Senior guard Aziaha James was one of four Wolfpack players to score in double figures, leading the way with 25 points on 10-of-18 shooting, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. She also led the team with four assists and added five rebounds and two steals. James has scored in double figures in every game this season.

Senior guard Saniya Rivers contributed 17 points, shooting 7-of-11 from the field. She led the Pack with three steals and also grabbed six rebounds.

Senior guard Madison Hayes nearly perfected her shooting, scoring 12 points on 5-of-6 from the field and collecting six rebounds.

Sophomore guard Zoe Brooks added 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting and led the team with eight rebounds, along with three assists.

The Wolfpack will be back in action on Thursday night in a road matchup against Wake Forest at 6 PM on ACC Network Extra.
