Aziaha James’ 36 Point Explosion Almost Cracks the Top-10 for Most Points in NC State History in a Single Game

Senior Guard Aziaha James exploded for 36 points tonight, propelling #14 NC State past #10 Duke with a 89-83 win at Reynolds Coliseum. James was lights out this evening, making 15 of 19 shots from the field. She scored 27 of her 36 points in the second half.

James’ 36 points marked a new career high and rank 11th in NC State history for points scored in a single game.

Last year, James earned First Team All-ACC honors. After starting only in the final six games of her sophomore season, James was a starter in every game she played last season. As a sophomore, she scored 10+ points eight times.

As a junior last year, she scored 10+ points in 31 of 38 games, scoring 20+ points in 12 games and 30+ in two games.

James enjoys playing against Duke. Her 36 points tonight surpassed her previous career high of 33, which she set against Duke at home last year.

This was James’ only 30+ point performance of the season, but she has scored 10+ points in 21 of 22 games, and 20+ points in 10 games.

This year, James is averaging 17.8 points per game, which ranks fifth in the ACC.

Over her career, James has scored 1,353 points, ranking 24th in school history.
