NC State’s Aziaha James Named Naismith Trophy Player of the Week

NC State Senior Guard Aziaha James was named the Naismith Trophy Player of the Week for her performances against Duke and Florida State this past week.

James averaged 29.0 points (64.9 FG%), 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals against the Blue Devils and the Seminoles.

In a Top-10 victory, James played out of her mind in the Wolfpack’s 89-83 win over Duke last Monday. She scored 36 points, with 27 of them coming in the 2nd half. On the night, she shot 15 of 19 from the field. James’ 36-point outburst is tied for the 11th most in school history in a single game.

Yesterday, James led the Pack to their 2nd Top-25 victory of the week. Her 22 points led NC State to a 97-74 win over the Seminoles on the road. She was 9 of 18 from the field.

On the year, James is averaging 18 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.3 steals, while shooting 46.8% from the field.

Over her career, James has scored 1,375 points, which ranks 20th in NC State history.
