For the third straight game, #13 NC State run-ruled Fordham, defeating the Rams 19-6 today in Game 3 of the series. The game concluded after the top of the 7th, completing a sweep for the Wolfpack in their first series of 2025.

Sophomore Ryan Marohn was electric, pitching five scoreless innings, striking out seven, and walking none.

Sophomore catcher Alex Sosa went 2 for 3, with two RBIs, three runs, and one walk. Both of his hits were for extra bases, including a double and a home run, his second of the series.

Junior right fielder Brayden Fraasman, a Division III transfer, went 2 for 4, with three RBIs, two runs, and one walk. He hit his first home run in a Wolfpack jersey.

Sophomore third baseman Ryan Jaros made his NC State debut, impressing with a 2 for 4 performance that included an RBI, a walk, a double, and two runs.

Junior left fielder Josh Hogue made his return to the diamond yesterday in Game 1, playing for the first time since suffering a horrific season-ending injury in the Ball State series last year. Prior to the injury, Hogue had started in 36 of the 37 games he played. In Game 1, he went 0-4. Today, he was 2 for 4, with two RBIs and a run.

Sophomore first baseman Chris McHugh went 1 for 4, with three RBIs and two runs.

Sophomore Outfielder Jake Bechtel pinch hit, and knocked a 3-run Home Run over the fence.

The Wolfpack’s bullpen struggled today, surrendering all six of Fordham’s runs.

After missing the entire 2024 season due to injury, redshirt senior pitcher Matt Willadsen returned to the mound. Having served as the Wolfpack’s primary Saturday starter in 2023, Willadsen was the first pitcher out of the bullpen today. He gave up one earned run on a solo home run but managed to strike out three to close out the inning.

It took three NC State pitchers to get out of the 7th inning. Sophomore Camden Wimbish was the first up. He gave up a three-run home run before being taken out after recording one out. Next up was sophomore preseason All-American Jacob Dudan, who gave up a solo home run on his first pitch and allowed another run to score with a sacrifice fly. Senior Carson Kelly was brought in to collect the last out and close the game.

The Wolfpack will host Liberty for a midweek game on Tuesday at 3 PM.
