NC State’s Rivers, James & Brooks Earn 1st Team All-ACC Honors, Rivers All-Defensive Honors, Brooks Most Improved

NC State senior guards Saniya Rivers, Aziaha James and Zoe Brooks were named to the 1st Team All-ACC for the second consecutive year.

James is tied for sixth in the ACC in scoring (18.0 points per game) and eighth in three-point field goals made (65). This year, she is averaging 18.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.2 steals, while shooting 45.9% from the field, 34.4% from three-point range, and 54.6% on two-point field goals. Every single one of those is a career high.

Rivers is averaging 11.8 points, 5.7 rebounds—a career high—3.7 assists (tying her career high), 1.7 steals, and 1.3 blocks, also a career high. She ranks seventh in the ACC in Assist/Turnover Ratio (2.0) and fifth in blocks (1.3).

After earning a spot on the ACC All-Freshman team last year, Zoe Brooks earned a spot on the All-ACC First Team this year. Brooks is averaging 14.5 points (2nd on the team), 3.9 assists (team lead), 4.6 rebounds and 1.3 steals. After seeing her scoring average increase 5.2 points per game, and her shooting percentage increase 4.5%, Brooks was named the ACC Most Improved Player of the Year.

James and Rivers joined select company, as only 11 players in NC State history have earned 1st Team All-ACC honors more than once.

Rivers also earned a spot on the ACC All-Defensive Team for the second consecutive year. She is one of only six players in NC State history to be selected to the ACC All-Defensive Team and one of only two to earn the honor more than once.
