After losing five straight games, the NC State Baseball team (8-5) won their fifth straight game yesterday, defeating Campbell (4-9) 11-1 at home in seven innings by run rule. The Wolfpack have won by run rule in two of the last three games.

NC State put the game away in the fifth inning, scoring seven runs. A run in the bottom of the sixth increased the lead to ten runs, ending the game after the top of the seventh.

Junior Left Fielder Josh Hogue hit a grand slam in his second consecutive game in the bottom of the fifth.

Junior Shortstop Matt Heavner had his best game of the young season, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs, a home run, and two runs.

Junior Right Fielder Brayden Fraasman went 2-for-4 with an RBI single.

Sophomore Third Baseman Ryan Jaros got on base twice with two singles and scored both times.

For the third consecutive game, pitching, batting, and fielding were all strong. The pitching staff allowed only one earned run, the bats produced 11 runs on 11 hits, and the team committed zero errors.

Sophomore Jacob Dudan, a Preseason All-American and ranked as the number one reliever in college baseball by D1Baseball, didn’t live up to expectations in his first four appearances, surrendering ten runs in 2.2 innings with an ERA of 27.00. However, Dudan pitched three perfect innings in his first career start yesterday, striking out six and reducing his ERA to 9.53. He made it through the three innings with just 34 total pitches. This marks only the fifth time Dudan has pitched 3+ innings in a game.

Sophomore Jaxon Lucas followed Dudan, allowing one earned run over two innings and striking out two. His ERA for the year is an impressive 2.57.

Sophomore Camden Wimbish closed the game, pitching two scoreless innings in the sixth and seventh, earning the first win of his career. He struck out four without issuing any walks.

The Wolfpack will host Wright State for a three-game series this weekend, aiming to win their third consecutive series to start the year.
