FIELD OF 68: Randolph Childress believes NC State has got their guy and that guy has agreed to coach at NC State

You know Randolph Childress from his days dropping 3’s in the 90s over at Wake Forest.

Today he’s a guest on the ‘Field of 68’ show on YouTube and X (associated with Jeff Goodman who first dropped the Will Wade connection on X), and they were talking about the Keatts situation.

I thought it was interesting what Childress had to say about the whole ordeal, mostly because this was my initial reaction as well.

He believed that for NC State to move so quickly. Firing Keatts and announcing it on a Sunday morning, when their women’s team was about to play in the ACC Championship, and firing him without the public dance of “We’re going to meet and evaluate” made me believe that there had to be a deal done behind the scenes.

Here is what Childress had to say…

“This tells me that they got the guy that they want. They can say what they want. They identified someone and that person has agreed, and this is my opinion, and when that guy said “Yes, I’ll take the job” then it was easy to say “Hey, you know what, we’re moving on. And I think thats more what this is about…”
