In Friday’s episode of Field of 68: After Dark, Rob Dauster and Jeff Goodman discussed how perfect a fit they believe McNeese State Head Coach Will Wade would be at NC State. Although they are not quite sure how well he fits with Wolfpack Athletic Director Boo Corrigan, they think Wade, the personality of the university, and the temperament and passion of the fanbase are a match made in heaven. You can read the transcript below and watch the video above.

Rob Dauster: The buzz around these parts today in Charlotte was that there has been movement towards the direction of Will Wade being the guy for NC State. Do you know anything about that? Do you have any information on what’s happening there?

Jeff Goodman: Yeah, they met yesterday. According to my sources, they met yesterday. You know, the big question is, will Texas move quick enough on Rodney Terry, and are they working back channels right now to make sure to keep Will Wade warm? I think Will Wade’s smart enough to know ‘all right, now’s the time.’

I think NC State is a job that he would like, because can’t you see Will Wade loving to fight Duke and Carolina, and being that underdog and fighting them? He fits the fan base better than anybody, better than anybody you could possibly pick. I don’t know if he fits Boo Corrigan, their AD, but again, I don’t know if Boo Corrigan has the juice to make this pick. I feel like it’s the money people and the fans that are going to say, ‘we want Will Wade, because he could be one of us. He could be that guy that we can gravitate towards, that will talk shit, that will fight Duke, that won’t back down, that’ll get shit done, that’ll get players, that’ll raise money, that’ll unite the fan base, that’ll go out there and talk to anybody and everybody.’

He’s perfect for NC State. He’s perfect.

Rob Dauster: I actually agree. I agree wholeheartedly. Look, I didn’t really know Will all that well before we did the South Dakota event.

Then we were able to hang out with him quite a bit, and talk to him quite a bit. There were a lot of conversations there. The way that he carries himself in terms of, ‘we’re going to roll up to your gym, we’re going to kick your ass, and then we’re going to take a bus home. That’s what we do. That’s how we do it here.’

They’re just junkyard dogs that want to go out there and hoop. That’s what he recruits. That’s the kind of team that he wants to build, and I think that he will find a way to be able to.

Here’s the other part about it too…He will want to go at Duke. He will want to go at North Carolina. He will want to take the title of the best basketball team in the state of North Carolina, and he doesn’t want to do it at a place where it is already the best job. I think he likes that kind of underdog role. I think he fits NC State much, much, much better than he would fit a place like Texas.

Texas is… I don’t know if that’s necessarily…

Jeff Goodman: I’m with you. I agree with you. I think he fits NC State better. It’s just that Texas is a better job, period, with more resources. That’s all.

Rob Dauster: Yes. That’s the big thing.
