NC State Head Coaching Search: Will Wade Confirms He’s Been Talking to NC State in Pre-NCAAT Press Conference

At this point, it’s a known fact that McNeese St.’s Will Wade is at the top of NC State’s wish list to become their next head coach, and he is clearly the top choice among the enthusiastic Wolfpack fanbase.

While it’s public knowledge that Boo Corrigan met with Wade in Louisiana last week, obviously neither Corrigan nor Wade have corroborated that report…until today.

In Wade’s press conference before McNeese St.’s first-round matchup against his alma mater Clemson tomorrow, he was directly asked if he’s talked with NC State.

His response?

A simple “Yes,” with a smile.

Wade also shared that his relationship with his current players is one of vulnerability, trust, and honesty. He doesn’t hide the fact that other schools are reaching out to him, or that he’s in conversation with them. Wade is fully aware that his players have access to Twitter. They’re reading everything NC State fans are reading.

The honesty and matter-of-factness of Wade’s response is refreshing.

Hearing Wade simply say “Yes” to the question is enough to send Wolfpack nation’s hopes through the roof.

But the fact that he smiled as he said it…that’s just too much for them to handle.

McNeese St. and Clemson tip off tomorrow at 3:15 PM on truTV.

I’m pretty sure NC State fans will be watching the game with a smile on their faces.
