REPORT: NC State has Reached an Agreement with Will Wade to be the Next Men’s Basketball Coach

According to Joe Giglio, NC State has reached a verbal agreement with McNeese St. Head Coach Will Wade to be their next Men’s Basketball Coach.

Been covering NC State searches since 1996, this would be the first one to end with State’s top choice.

To be clear, Giglio says that the deal is yet to be finalized. The Cowboys are playing the Clemson Tigers tomorrow in the NCAA Tournament. According to Joe’s sources, as soon as McNeese St. is eliminated, the two parties already have plans in place to move quickly.

Matt Norlander, of CBS Sports, chimed in on Giglio’s report.

Just had a source follow up on @giglio_OG‘s report to say Will Wade’s deal with NC State is getting close but not entirely done. Nothing has been signed, but, barring anything unexpected over the next couple of days, Wade is expected to be the next coach at NC State.

According to Norlander’s source, the deal is close to crossing the finish line, but not entirely done. From the rest of the tweet, it seems that what needs to be finalized is the official signing of paperwork. Nonetheless, Norlander’s ultimate conclusions is the same as Giglio’s:

“Over the next couple of days, Wade is expected to be the next coach at NC State.”

Giglio got the ball running, but at this point, Wade to State is breaking news across the country.
