NC State came from behind to beat UNCG at home, completing the 2025 sweep against the Spartans. The Wolfpack won in Greensboro 10-0 on March 4th.

UNCG jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the 2nd, but they would only score one more run the rest of the way.

Sophomore Cooper Consiglio showed a lot of promise in Year 1. Though his 4.97 ERA left much to be desired, batters only hit .200 against him. In ACC play, Consiglio had the best ERA on the team (3.38), holding batters to a .178 batting average. In contrast, Consiglio has struggled mightily in 2025, and tonight was no different. Through 11 appearances (4 starts), Consiglio has a 1-2 record with an ERA of 7.58, with opponents hitting .309 against him. Tonight, the Spartans tagged him for 5 runs (4 earned) in the top of the 2nd inning.

Fortunately, Junior Outfielder Brayden Fraasman hit his 5th home run (tied for team lead) of the season, which knocked in 3 in the bottom of the 2nd, cutting the Spartans’ lead to 2.

Freshman Outfielder Ty Head’s 2-RBI single in the bottom of the 3rd tied things up.

After a rough showing against USC Upstate his last time out, Sophomore Jaxon Lucas was back to what we’ve come to expect all season long. Lucas pitched 2.2 scoreless innings, striking out 3, while allowing 1 hit and 1 walk, picking up his first win of the season.

Junior Outfielder Josh Hogue helped the Wolfpack take their first lead of the day in the bottom of the 4th, knocking in Sophomore 2nd Baseman Luke Nixon via an RBI single.

Junior Andrew Shaffner picked up his 3rd save of the year, which leads the team. Shaffner gave up only 1 earned run in 4.1 innings, striking out a career-high 7 batters in 73 pitches. The innings pitched, total pitches, and strikeouts were all career highs.

In the bottom of the 7th, Hogue scored on a groundout by Head.

In the bottom of the 8th, the Wolfpack would score their final two runs through a single by Hogue and a sacrifice bunt by Senior Shortstop Justin DeCriscio.

Hogue was exceptional, going 4 for 5, with 2 doubles, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs.

Fraasman and Head each chipped in 3 RBIs apiece.

The Wolfpack will host UVA for a 3-game series this weekend, beginning with Game 1 on Friday night at 6pm.
