NC State has reached out to Maryland Transfer Guard Rodney Rice (6’4″/198), who entered the Transfer Portal yesterday.

After two seasons at Virginia Tech, Rice had a breakout season at Maryland, averaging 13.8 points (third on the team), 2.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists, while shooting 37.4% from beyond the arc.

Rice struggled with injuries during his first college season in Blacksburg in 2022-23, playing only eight games. This trend continued into the next year when he was unable to play in any games.

As a result, he will be a Redshirt Junior next year, with two years of eligibility remaining.

Coming out of the legendary DeMatha Catholic in Maryland, Rice was a consensus four-star player, ranked as the #48 overall player nationally by ESPN in the 2022 recruiting class. Currently, 247Sports ranks him as the #17 overall player in the Transfer Portal and the #5 Shooting Guard
