According to Jamie Shaw of ON3, NC State and UNC are ‘two early schools to watch’ for Alabama transfer power forward Jarin Stevenson (6’11″/215).

Earlier today, news broke that Stevenson was entering the portal with a ‘Do Not Contact’ tag, which requests that schools do not contact the player unless he initiates communication.

This is good news for the Pack. If there’s already buzz that NC State is a top contender for Stevenson, it indicates there may be intel suggesting his immediate interest. Very often, players enter the portal with a ‘Do Not Contact’ tag when they already have an idea of where they might want to land.

This season, Stevenson averaged 5.4 points and 3.24 rebounds per game for the Crimson Tide, with an average of 18.7 minutes per game (starting 22) and a field goal percentage of 42.9%.

On June 21, 2023, Stevenson committed to Alabama over Virginia and UNC after taking an official visit with the Tar Heels the week before. Prior to his commitment, Stevenson was a member of the 2024 recruiting class, rated as a 5-star prospect and the #1 power forward nationally by ESPN. He decided to reclassify to the 2023 class, foregoing his final year of high school to head to Tuscaloosa.

After reclassifying, Stevenson was ranked as a consensus 4-star prospect, with ESPN ranking him as the #41 overall player in the 2023 class. Stevenson just wrapped up his sophomore season, but he is the age of a freshman.

He is from Chapel Hill and played right down the road at Seaforth High School in Pittsboro.

NC State offered Stevenson on October 7, 2021, and in March of 2023, the Wolfpack was reported by 247Sports as being one of the top schools to land him, along with UNC, Virginia, Missouri, Arkansas, and Georgetown.

Alabama was late to the party, offering Stevenson on May 10, 2023, with a commitment following a month later.

According to Jamie Shaw, it looks like Stevenson wants to head back home.
