NC State defeated Cal 5-2 this evening, solidifying the sweep of the Golden Bears.

Sophomore Ryan Marohn pitched a gem tonight. Marohn gave up only 1 earned run over 7.2 innings while striking out 9. He now holds a 5-2 record with a 3.75 ERA.

Only one reliever was needed, and that was Sophomore Jacob Dudan, who has been en fuego as of late. Dudan picked up his 4th save of the season, holding Cal scoreless over 1.1 innings while striking out 4. After a rough start, Dudan has become one of the most dominant relievers in college baseball. He now boasts a 3.26 ERA.

To the surprise of no one, Sophomore First Baseman Chris McHugh was the offensive hero of the day. He went 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs and a walk.

Sophomore Catcher Alex Sosa hit the only home run for the Wolfpack today, launching a 2-run bomb in the top of the 8th.

McHugh and Sophomore Shortstop Justin DeCriscio provided the other RBIs—DeCriscio hit a sac fly in the top of the 1st, and McHugh knocked a 2-RBI single in the top of the 2nd.

The Wolfpack is now 27-12 overall and 12-6 in conference play, which ranks 4th in the ACC.

NC State will host ECU in Raleigh for a midweek game on Tuesday at 6 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
