#25 NC State Sweeps #2 Clemson for the 1st Time Since 1997, Winning 4-1 in Game 3

#25 NC State (30-12/15-6) completed the sweep of #2 Clemson (36-10/13-8) for the first time since 1997, defeating the Tigers 4-1 this afternoon in Raleigh.

Sophomore Ryan Marohn has now picked up wins (6-2) in his last three starts, dominating Clemson today over 8 innings, surrendering only 1 earned run while striking out 5.

Sophomore Jacob Dudan pitched a perfect 9th inning, striking out all three batters he faced, picking up his 5th save of the season. Dudan has been unstoppable the past two months. He hasn’t allowed a run in his last 12.2 innings, striking out 20.

After the Tigers went up 1-0 on a solo shot by Jarren Purify in the top of the 1st, Sophomore Designated Hitter Ryan Jaros tied things up in the bottom of the 2nd with an RBI single.

Sophomore Catcher Alex Sosa hit a go-ahead 2-run home run in the bottom of the 6th, giving the Pack a 3-1 lead. He finished the day 2 for 4 with a double, home run, 2 RBI and a run. Sosa’s home run was his 8th of the year, hitting bombs in 3 of the last 4 games. Sosa clobbered the Tigers this weekend, going 7-12 with 5 RBI, 6 runs, 2 home runs, and 2 doubles.

Senior Shortstop Justin DeCriscio brought home the final Wolfpack run of the day with a sac fly in the bottom of the 8th.

NC State has won 11 of its last 12 and is currently riding a 7-game winning streak.
