You’re not going to believe who this box came from. This box comes from the great Philip Rivers, former quarterback of the Chargers. I got a lot of respect for Rivers.
He’s one of the very few helmets that I begged to get autographed, Philip Rivers. You want to see Philip Rivers’ release? Here’s how quick his release was. You see that? No, you didn’t, because it’s really quick, man.
Philip Rivers, the Chargers, the L.A. Chargers. I’m talking the San Diego Chargers used to give me fits. Rivers, Gates, freaking A, man.
Matthews, Sproles, Seau, Rodney Harrison, Raylee Johnson. I could go on and on and on.
I’m going back to the way Philip Rivers played quarterback. You know, he’s the head football coach now at St. Michael’s Catholic in Fairhope, Alabama. He has a large family.
We know that. But Philip Rivers has done a great job transitioning into coaching. And right now he’s coaching his son, Gunner, who’s an outstanding young quarterback.
And they made the playoffs.
Would you look at that? There’s got to be some meaning there.
What’s it say? Jake? Nunc Coepi. I don’t know. I don’t know.
Check this out. St. Michael’s football. You know, last week we had Robbie Gould, the ex-kicker of the Chicago Bears, transitioning into coaching.
Now I am strongly going to represent the St. Michael’s ball club in Fairhope, Alabama. Look at these shirts.
They got better gear than we have at the FFCN, Jake. That is a really nice dry fit. I mean, I gotta get out there for a game.
You know, Riley Leonard, who was on Gruden’s QB class, is from Fairhope, Alabama, and he has been throwing the ball with the great Philip Rivers.
No way. This is freaky. This is what I think it is. This is Philip Rivers in the Pro Bowl. This is his jersey.
To Coach Gruden. Are you kidding me? I love Philip Rivers. You know what? I guarantee Philip Rivers, if he wanted to, could get up off the couch and shred you tonight.
Look at this. That is so awesome. Thank you, Coach Rivers.
Good luck to the team. Good luck to Gunner. Thank you for being a coach, man.
Teaching these guys discipline, work ethic, accountability, sportsmanship, and how to be mentally tough. We’re rooting for you. This is freaking an honor.
Let me show you something, Jake. You know I’m a big believer in quickness at the quarterback position. Mental quickness, body quickness, and arm quickness.
That’s what Rivers has. Let me show you this release.
Did you see it? I threw four passes. You didn’t even see it.
This is awesome. St. Michael’s. Philip Rivers.
Quick. You know what Philip Rivers believes in? Nunc Coepi. See it? Zoom in on that.
A new beginning. Is that what he means by that? “Now I begin. Now I begin.”
He’s learned this from a priest out there in Alabama. Now I begin. That’s how he handles his life.
You know what, Philip? Now I begin, man. Let’s go. Freaking A, baby.
New beginning. First down.
