NC State Center Fielder Ty Head is making school history as a True Freshman.

No, I’m not talking about his SportsCenter Top-10 acrobatic catches in the outfield. That’s a different article entirely.

I’m talking about his patience at the plate.

With 3 games left in the regular season, Head has drawn 47 walks, which is already tied for the 7th most in a single season in NC State history. Last season, former Catcher Jacob Cozart finished the year with 52, which ranks 2nd in school history.

1. 64 Pratt Maynard 2010
2. 52 Jacob Cozart 2024
3. 51 Tom Sergio 1997
3. 51 Evan Edwards 2019
5. 50 Devonte Brown 2022
6. 48 Danny Canela 2012
7. 47 Ty Head, 2025
7. 47 Jake Weber 1998
7. 47 Jake Weber 1997
7. 47 Robbie Bark 1993
7. 47 Bobby Russell 1990

Head currently ranks 6th in the ACC in Walks, and 22nd in the nation.

He is averaging roughly a Walk per game, and the Wolfpack will play a minimum of 6 more games this season (hopefully a lot more).

That means the Freshman is in a prime position to at least surpass Cozart for the 2nd most Walks in a single season in NC State history.
