NC State will Play Clemson in the Quarterfinals of the 2025 ACC Baseball Tournament Tomorrow Night

#5 seed Clemson defeated #12 seed Virginia Tech 6-1 this afternoon in the second round of the 2025 ACC Baseball Tournament, advancing to play #4 seed NC State tomorrow night at 7 p.m.

The Wolfpack swept the Tigers back on the weekend of April 24th. Clemson was ranked 2nd nationally at the time, and NC State was ranked 25th.

Game 1: 14-4 (8 innings)
Game 2: 8-3
Game 3: 4-1

Junior Dominic Fritton started Game 1 and struggled against the Tigers. He only lasted 4 innings, allowing 4 earned runs and 5 walks. Fritton’s 4-inning performance was his second-shortest outing of the season. Freshman Anderson Nance came in to replace Fritton, picking up his 7th win of the year with a stellar performance—pitching 5 scoreless innings and striking out 7.

Junior Right Fielder Brayden Fraasman went bananas, going 5 for 5 at the plate with 2 home runs and 7 RBI. Sophomore Alex Sosa was 3 for 5 with 3 runs.

The Wolfpack racked up 19 hits against the Tigers in Game 1, their most in a single game this year.

In Game 2, Sophomore Heath Andrews pitched arguably his best performance of the season, giving up 2 earned runs in 6 innings while striking out a career-high 9 batters. Junior Andrew Shaffner picked up the save, allowing 1 earned run over 3 innings and striking out 3.

The Wolfpack’s hit parade continued, putting 13 hits in the box score. Fraasman continued to punish the Tigers, going 3 for 4 at the plate. Junior Left Fielder Josh Hogue and Sosa both hit home runs and logged 3 RBI.

Sophomore Ryan Marohn nearly pitched a complete game in Game 3, allowing only 1 earned run over 8 innings while striking out 5. Sophomore Jacob Dudan picked up the save, pitching a perfect 9th inning and striking out the side.

Sosa proved to be a Tiger killer once again, going 2 for 4 with 2 RBI, a home run, and a double.
