Wide Receiver Teddy Hoffmann flipped his commitment from FAU to NC State on National Signing Day last December. Rival’s ranked him as a 4-Star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, after putting together a spectacular Senior season, tallying 69 receptions for 1,179 yards and 23 touchdowns for Atlantic High School (Boca Raton, FL).

Yesterday, Hoffmann met with the media after practice, sharing what it’s like for a Freshman to come in and compete for playing time, what he’s learning from the older receivers and his relationship with Quarterback CJ Bailey.

You can watch the video above, and read the transcript below.

What was it like for you in your first scrimmage? There’s a lot of good buzz from your performance.

I mean, I was just doing my job, and doing what my coaches taught me to do every day, working hard. When we got in the scrimmage, it’s just another day of practice.

As a young guy, what’s this fall camp been like? How have you seen yourself improve?

Just understanding that I’m young and I got a lot to learn, but also, I know I’m ready. Just learning from the older guys, and understanding and being where my feet are at.

Who are some of those guys you have learned how to lean on?

Noah Rodgers, Wesley (Grimes), (Terrell) Anderson, Keenan (Jackson), all of them.

We’re all growing together and getting better.

Is there a friendly competition to get the ball? I mean, you’ve got Joly, you’ve got a lot of people at wide receiver, you’ve got obviously good running backs. How much competition is there to be the guy who gets the targets?

I mean, it’s a lot.

Every day I go to practice and I’ve got to make plays, and continue making plays, and the ball will come your way more. If not, you’ve still got to do your job.

CJ Bailey’s from South Florida. Now that you’ve been around him for a few months, what has it been like?

It’s cool. We hang out a lot, even back in Florida. He’s a good kid and he works really hard on the field.

He’s a great leader, and I’m excited for the season.

Where’s your growth potential from here to the opener? What things do you want to work on?

I want to work on getting off press releases, stuff like that, and just being available for the quarterback. Also blocking and doing my job when I’m not getting the ball, little things.

How did the relationship with CJ start?

I mean, it really started once I came to NC State, but we knew each other mutually, and then when we were home, we’d just run routes, hang out, go out, go to Miami, whatever, and just have fun.

How important is it to have that kind of relationship with your QB?

I think it’s really important, because he can trust you on and off the field, and knowing that you’re there for him no matter what the situation is, so it means a lot for sure.
