Joseph Anderson, NC State’s Director of Player Development, recently tweeted that Wolfpack Sophomore Guard Paul McNeil Jr. torched the net this summer in a 3-point shooting assessment drill.

According to Anderson, McNeil Jr. did 5 rounds of 100 three-point shots, making an average of 82.6 per round.

I’m assuming no one was guarding McNeil Jr. during the drill, but making 83% from three unguarded on 100 straight shots is mind blowing.

As a Freshman last season, he made 16 of his 45 three-point attempts (35.6%).

In his Senior season at Richmond Senior High School (Rockingham, NC), McNeil Jr. made 40% from three on 277 attempts.

With all of the high profile transfers on NC State’s 2025-26 Men’s Basketball roster, McNeil Jr. is being lost in the shuffle, when he might just be the best perimeter shooter on the team.
