Former NC State Wide Receiver Alvis Whitted has returned to Raleigh, joining the Wolfpack’s staff as a Senior Offensive Analyst.

Former NC State Wide Receiver Alvis Whitted has returned to Raleigh, joining the Wolfpack staff as a Senior Offensive Analyst.

Whitted played wide receiver at NC State from 1994–97. In four seasons in Raleigh, he caught 29 passes for 461 yards. His biggest impact on the Wolfpack came as a kickoff returner. Over four seasons, Whitted returned 84 kickoffs for 1,929 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 23.0 yards per return. He ranks fourth in NC State history in career kickoff return yards.

In 1998, the Jacksonville Jaguars selected Whitted in the seventh round of the NFL Draft with the 192nd overall pick. He went on to play nine years in the NFL with the Jaguars and the Raiders, compiling 74 receptions for 1,030 yards and six touchdowns. He also returned 21 kickoffs for 388 yards and one touchdown in the NFL.

After his playing career came to an end, Whitted turned to coaching.

His first stop was at his alma mater, Orange High School in Hillsborough, where he coached wide receivers for two seasons.

In 2010, Whitted earned his first college coaching job at Millsaps College, leading the receivers room.

The following year, he made the jump to a Power Five program, serving as a quality control coach at UCLA.

Whitted’s longest stint came at Colorado State, where he coached wide receivers from 2012–18.

He also brings NFL coaching experience, having served as the Green Bay Packers’ wide receivers coach in 2019.

After one season in the NFL, Whitted returned to the college ranks, coaching wide receivers at Wisconsin from 2020–22 and at Utah the past two years.
