NC State Redshirt Freshman Running Back Duke Scott met with the media yesterday leading up to the Wolfpack’s game against Campbell this Saturday. You can watch the video above, and read the transcript below.

What’s the response been, both in film and in practice today?

We’re working hard. It’s not how we wanted it to come out, but we’ve just been working hard. We’ve been grinding and making sure that doesn’t affect the next day.

We have a 1-0 mindset, so whatever happened in the past, we’re not too worried about. We’re just worried about our forward progression.

What was it like to get that first touchdown this past weekend? I mean, you were close to getting two, but had one taken off the board. What was it like to be able to actually punch that through?

It felt great. I felt blessed. We put in a lot of work, and those are the moments I can kind of hope for, like those short yardage situations where it’s just you and the other guy, just so you can show the grit you have.

It was a good opportunity for me to show that. It felt great.

As far as your opportunities this year, how much are you trying to make the most out of every single carry that you get and be able to help the team in that way?

Every time. That’s always my goal. Regardless if I get three carries, seven carries, ten carries, my whole goal is to contribute as much as I possibly can and take advantage of every opportunity I get.

What have you stolen from what Hollywood (Smothers) does?

His improvising, like how there may be nothing there, and he somehow manages to get out of it and get positive yards. That’s been the biggest thing I’ve taken away from him, just no play is dead until the whistle’s blown.

As a running tandem, how do you feel like the two of you complement each other in the different way you run?

I feel like we’re a great complement to each other. He’s lightning, and I feel like I’m thunder, so the power aspect that I bring and his just explosiveness, I feel like it’s a great complement to each other.
