NC State Men’s Basketball released a new episode of Around Raleigh With Coach Wade recently. Coach Wade sat down with Center Scotty Ebube, who transferred from Wyoming this offseason.

You can read the transcript below, and watch the video underneath.

WW: Welcome to our next episode of Around Raleigh. We’re here on the rooftop at Carmichael, beautiful facility here on campus. Over 10,000 students a day come through Carmichael for workouts and various activities.

We’ve got the backdrop of our softball field and our soccer field and a little bit of Reynolds, so beautiful spot on campus here. We’ve got Scottie Ebube with us today, the pride of Chicago. Happy to have him here in Raleigh with us. I know our fans are going to love his physical presence, his tenacity defensively and on the offensive glass.

Very, very excited to have Scotty with us on this episode. Scottie’s joining us from University of Wyoming.

When you went to the University of Wyoming, that’s the first time you’d been out of Illinois. So your high school career was in Illinois and then you originally went to Southern Illinois. Talk about your time at Southern Illinois and then what led you out west to the University of Wyoming?

SE: So the first three years at Southern Illinois was a great experience for me. I learned a whole lot about things with coaches. They pretty much taught how to build up my character. During SIU, it was a big test for me and battling through that. It was a really tough program. A really hard program to go through there.

It was really good for me. It was really good for me mentally and Wyoming was a great experience as well. I’d say it was a culture shock for me for sure.

WW: Big difference between Chicago and Illinois and Wyoming.

SE: Yeah, I saw tumbleweed for the first time and I was really surprised about it. But it was great though. It was a great experience for me. It was great for me to go out west and experience that.

WW: Most people don’t know you’re a graduate of the University of Wyoming.

Graduated in August. Congratulations on that, and you’re starting some post-grad stuff here at NC State. So let’s get back to your roots a little bit.

You grew up in the Chicago area. We can’t talk about the Chicago area without pizza. A lot of NC State fans visit Chicago.

What’s your favorite pizza spot there?

SE: Lou Malnati’s for sure. That’s the best pizza there.

WW: Deep dish?

SE: Deep dish for sure.

WW: There we go. There we go. All right, Lou Malnati’s. If you go to Chicago, Pack fans, that’s where we need to go.

You’re an Atlanta Falcons fan. How in the world did you grow up in Chicago, and become an Atlanta Falcons fan?

SE: So my dad was a Michael Vick fan and pretty much from there, I’ve just been a Falcons fan.

WW: So it all started with your father and Michael Vick. Let’s talk a little bit about your family. Your father came on the visit.

Great, great guy. Let’s talk about your three brothers. You’ve got three brothers, all very good players, very good athletes in their own right.

I know you’re the best of the crew. If you all played one-on-one, who would win?

SE: I’d say me.

WW: You would win. Talk about your family, your brothers and how they’ve shaped you, and how they’ve helped you get to where you are.

SE: My mom pretty much taught me how to respect everybody and respect women as well. My dad pretty much taught me how to be a man in a way.

My brother, just pretty much taught me all the little things my parents really can’t really teach yet.

WW: Your parents have done a great job.

All you guys are very successful and out in the world and doing really, really positive things. People who haven’t seen you dunk don’t know how violent of a dunker you are. He’s almost broken the goals in our practice facility a few times with how hard he dunks the ball.

So I know our fans are going to be excited about seeing that in Lenovo. Talk a little bit about what you’re most excited about being here at NC State, being in the ACC.

What excites you most about this coming season and running with the Pack here?

SE: The fan base, obviously. I’m happy to see how the fans are. I’m just coming to a whole new level and kind of just learning to adapt to it in a way.

WW: We’re excited to have Scottie. He’s somebody that can make an impact at every level, made an impact at Southern Illinois, made an impact at Wyoming to make an impact for us, and is going to make an impact for us, particularly defensively and on the offensive glass, two areas that he really, really excels. So we’re excited to have Scottie.

Really, really excited he joined us here at the end of the summer, and that’s this episode of Around Raleigh from the rooftop of Carmichael. Beautiful views of campus.
