Shadrach Thornton Arrested

UPDATE (9:58AM): Joe Giglio of the N&O just reported more details in the arrest of NC State running back Shadrach Thornton last night:

Thornton was also charged with operating a motor vehicle on a sidewalk and for operating an unregistered motor vehicle.  Thornton was riding his moped on the sidewalk when he struck Jimmie Woodard, 23, of Raleigh, according to Woodard’s mother, Sharon. Woodard suffered lacerations in his lip and needed stitches, his mother said on Wednesday. (N&O)

Raleigh police said Thornton was driving a scooter that hit a man near the intersection of Avent Ferry Road and Western Boulevard at about 9:15 p.m. The man was not seriously injured, police said.  Police found Thornton, 22, in his apartment at the College Inn Residence Hall nearby. They charged him with failure to stop and render aid and failure to provide information. (WRAL)

Last night Shadrach Thornton was arrested for failure to give information/aid personal at 2717 Western Blvd, which is the address for the College Inn Apartments.  When you break down the technical language of the charge, this means that he was in an auto accident and either failed to provide his information to the other driver, or failed to provide reasonable assistance to the other party involved.  This can include a failure to call 911.  Obviously I don’t know exactly what happened, and I’m not going to speculate, but this is what the definition of the charges are.

Rob McLamb of PackPride confirmed with the Raleigh Police Department that Thornton was arrested and charged with this last night and was officially booked at 11:09pm.  McLamb also reports that he was released on his own recognizance under a $500 unsecured bond, according to authorities. As of early Wednesday morning the court date had not been released.
