NC State running back Nyheim Hines is 156 yards shy of 1,000 rushing yards on the season, and he has two games to left to cross the prestigous milestone. If Hines can rush for 1,000 yards, he will become only the 9th player in NC State history to do so in 125 years of Wolfpack football. Here is the list of names he would join:
Ted Brown (3x – 1,350, 1,251, 1,088/76-78))
Anthony Barbour (1,204/1992))
Joe McIntosh (2x – 1,190 & 1,081/1981,83)
Stan Fritts – 1,169 (1974)
Matt Dayes – 1,166 (2016)
Tremayne Stephens – 1,142 (1997)
T.A. McClendon – 1,101 (2002)
Willie Burden – 1,014 (1973)
If Hines can pick up 156 more yards over the next two games, it will mark the first time since 1978-77 that NC State will have had a running back run for over 1,000 yards in consecutive years.
Wouldn’t it be beautiful if Hines were able to pick up 156 rushing yards against UNC today? Over the past two years, Hines has averaged 6 yards per carry against the Tar Heels. Hines’ career high came earlier this year, when he rushed for 135 yards against Pitt on 16 carries.
What’s 21 more yards?
