5-Star 2023 Guard A.J. Johnson (6’5″/165) was set to take an Official Visit to NC State this weekend, but the plans have changed, and he is looking to reschedule it near the end of October.

Rivals ranks Johnson as the #9 overall player nationally in the 2023 recruiting class. He has already taken Official Visits to LSU (9/17) and USC (9/10) the past two weekends, and is scheduled to take one to Louisville on October 21st. If Johnson is still planning to take an Official Visit to Raleigh in late-October, he might be in early on October 27th, when the NC State football team will host Virginia Tech on Thursday night on ESPN.

According to 247’s Travis Branham, Kansas, Arizona State and Gonzaga are all candidates for the 5th and final Official Visit.

Johnson plays for Donda Academy in Simi Valley, California, and honestly, he is a candidate to try to play professionally outside the NBA for a season, prior to entering the 2024 NBA Draft.

I know KK has to keep swinging for the fence with these guys, and hopefully some day he’ll sign a 5 star, but with no local connections and a coach on the hot seat it looks tough.
