Huntley-Hatfield spoke with the media after the game. You can watch the video ABOVE, and read the transcript BELOW.
What was it like to be able to go out there and play in a real game tonight?
It felt good. Last game I had was in the ACC Tournament against the team I’m with now. It felt good to get back out there after a pretty big layoff. I feel good.
The guards were a little bit of the story tonight, but you and Ben (Middlebrooks) had a ton of production. How do you feel about how you played tonight?
I felt like I could be better. I was only in there for like 20 minutes because I was in foul trouble. I felt like Ben gave us really good energy. He rebounded the ball at a high level. Obviously the guards did what they did. But Ben took care of business, and we all did, so that’s pretty good.
How much does that give you confidence about the depth of this team?
It gives me a lot of confidence to know any given night can be anybody’s night. We’ve also got to keep trusting each other and make sure that we’re trusting our work and keep trusting each other.
What are the biggest parts of your game that are helping this team?
I’d say my inside presence. I’m just trying to carve out space. I’m trying to put pressure on the defense and on the rim at all times. Also, my rebounding as well. I rebound at a high level on both ends of the floor. I’ll be better next game with that. Also being a switch defender in ball-screen coverages. Being disruptive everywhere on the floor.
What have you seen from Ben Middlebrooks?
He’s been trusting his work. He doesn’t do anything out of the ordinary. He just does what he works on. You can see it tonight. He hit a three today. He’s been in the gym countless hours, getting 1,000 shots a day.
