NC State 2024 Football Redshirt at the End of the Regular Season

Here’s a NC State Redshirt Report at the end of the regular season.

A redshirt season, is a year that doesn’t count against a players 4 years of eligibility. For clarity, while a player is limited to participating in 4 games in order to maintain a Redshirt Season, participation in a bowl game doesn’t count against that number. Every player is allowed 1 redshirt season in their career, at any point.

NC State has 3 True Freshman that burned their redshirt, playing 4+ games.

The following True Freshman have seen action this year, but haven’t played in 5 games. As a result, they currently still have the ability to redshirt this season.

JR LB Wyatt Wright – 1 game

Devan Boykin, who was a starting Safety for the Wolfpack in 2023 season, missed the entire season this year after tearing his ACL in Bowl Prep last December. He will Redshirt this season, and have one year of eligibility remaining.

Vereen was listed as sick when he missed LA Tech and Clemson, but returned to play a total of three snaps against Northern Illinois and Wake Forest. He hasn’t seen the field since then. In fact, Vereen was posting on Instagram during the game, watching the game on a television, not on the sideline with his team. This wasn’t the first time this season that happened. No explanation for Vereen’s absence has been given all year. I will say, after the workload he received as a True Freshman, this is an interesting development to watch.

Wallace transferred in this offseason from Colorado, and has been #3 on the depth chart at Nose Tackle all season. He hasn’t played a snap since Week 6 against Wake Forest.

Wright was a JUCO commit in this years class. The only action he’s seen this year, was on Special Teams against Stanford.
