Last night NC State defeated Old Dominion in their first road game of the season 38-14 to improve to 3-0 on the season.  Here are some Offensive notes on the Wolfpack victory:

  • Dating back to last season, NC State is on a 6-game winning streak.  This is the longest winning streak by the Wolfpack since they started the season 9-0 in 2002.
  • Matt Dayes rushed for 108 yards on 20 carries, and also picked up his 6th rushing touchdown of the season.  Dayes has rushed for 100+ yards in three straight games to start the season.  The last NC State running back to rush for 100+ yards in 3 straight games was T.A. McClendon in 2002.  The last Wolfpack running back to rush for 100+ yards in the first three games of the season was Joe McIntosh in 1981.
  • Jaylen Samuels has a goal to score two touchdowns a game this season.  Through three games he is right on target, picking up touchdowns #5 (3-yard run) and #6 (10-yard reception).
  • Jacoby Brissett had his least efficient game of the young season if you just look at the paper.  He was 18 0f 27 for 179 yards and 1 touchdown.  His Passing Efficiency Rating for the night was 134.58, and is now 165.06 on the year.  Brissett did use his legs more, rushing 9 times for 43 yards and 1 touchdown.  His streak of passing attempts without an interception is up to 156, covering a span of 26 quarters.
  • Shadrach Thornton rushed the ball 18 times for 92 yards and a touchdown after sitting out the first two games due to suspension.
  • NC State had 4 rushing touchdowns by 4 different players.
  • Jaylen Samuels led the Wolfpack in receptions (5) and receiving yards (43).
  • Alex Barr was unable to play yesterday due to a knee injury.   Bryce Kennedy  stepped in and started the game, but he left the game with an injury.  Garrett Bradbury hasn’t played since injuring himself in Week 1 against Troy.  As a result, Senior Joe Thuney moved over from Left Guard and Freshman Tyler Jones stepped into his spot at Left Tackle.
  • The NC State offense held the ball for 40:12  last night, marking the third straight game in which the Wolfpack has had the ball in their hands for 40+ minutes.  NC State entered the game leading the FBS in Time of Possession.
  • NC State had 435 yards of total offense, which is their lowest total in 2015.  They have 400+ yards of Total Offense in 6 straight games.
