NC State vs. Boston College Kickoff Set for 12:30

Published

on

The kickoff time for NC State’s home game versus Boston College on October 6th has been set for 12:30pm.

Let the outcry begin.

Fans don’t like kickoffs before Noon. Neither do coaches or players. The only people that do are the TV networks and the ACC.

With that being said, there is a feeling amongst much of the NC State fanbase that they are getting stuck with more games before 2pm than anyone else in the ACC, and the feeing is false.

As usual, you can count on the News & Observer’s Joe Giglio to come through in the clutch with some research, and here are his findings he shared on Twitter last night.

So, despite the perception by Wolfpack fans that they lead the NATION in games before 1pm, the above research shows they don’t even lead the ACC.

But wait…

Giglio provides some salt in the wounded heart of NC State fans…

Now, take a deep breath, and check this out.

NC State has won their last 8 games before 1pm.

2018

9/1/18 – Noon – James Madison (H) – 24-13
9/8/18 – 12:30 – Georgia State (H) – 41-7

2017

9/16/17 – 12:20 – Furman (H)- 49-16
9/23/17 – Noon – #11 FSU (A) – 27-21
9/30/17 – 12:20 – Syracuse (H) – 33-25
10/14/17 – Noon – Pitt (A) – 35-17
11/11/17 – Noon – Boston College (A) – 17-14

2016

11/25/17 – Noon – UNC (A) – 28-21

The Wolfpack has the chance to make that 10 straight over the next 2 weeks against Virginia and Boston College.

NC State head coach Dave Doeren mentioned at his press conference yesterday that they can’t control the kickoff times they are given, but encouraged the fans to remember “it’s 5 o’clock somewhere,” and to get out there and have fun, and cheer on their team.

ON3: NC State’s Dave Doeren is 1 of the Top-25 Best Coaches in College Football

Published

ON3’s Jesse Simonton ranked the Top-25 College Football Coaches heading into the 2024 season, and NC State’s Dave Doeren ranks 23rd.

Here’s what Simonton had to say about Doeren:

23. Dave DoerenNC State

Doeren became the Wolfpack’s all-time winningest head coach last season, overcoming all manors of offensive ineptitude to win eight games for the fourth straight season. He still hasn’t busted through the glass ceiling and taken NC State to an ACC Championship, but the Wolfpack have legitimate conference title hopes in 2024 with the offseason work Doeren has done via the portal (quarterback Grayson McCall, tailbacks Jordan Waters and Hollywood Smothers and receivers Noah Rogers and Wesley Grimes).

In 11 seasons in Raleigh, Doeren’s program has been steadily consistent and has become a model for development (17 NFL Draft picks since 2018) and strength and conditioning. (ON3)

6. Dabo Swinney (Clemson)

7. Mike Norvell (FSU)

20. Jeff Brohm (Louisville)

23. Dave Doeren (NC State)

While most projections don’t have Wolfpack Linebacker Payton Wilson going in the 1st round tonight, a few do. Wilson was invited to attend the NFL Draft, but he will be tuning in from his home in Hillsborough. We’ll have to tune in tonight to see if Wilson hears his name called on the 1st night of the 2024 NFL Draft.
