Today NC State head coach Dave Doeren briefly spoke with the media for the last time before the Wolfpack’s matchup against James Madison this Saturday in the Season Opener. The video is above, and a BULLETED breakdown of what he had to say is below.

In regards to the heat expected on Saturday…

  • The positions we can rotate, we will. The guys that are ready to play, we will rotate. There are several guys in certain position groups that we feel that way about. We will just have to see how it goes. These guys have practiced in this heat the past three weeks. I would say we’re as prepared for the heat as you can be.

On Redshirt Junior Stephen Griffin’s health…

  • Stephen’s doing great. It’s good to have him back.

If there are any disciplinary actions heading into Week 1…

  • If I could tell you about them I would.

On dealing with the Title IX case last year

  • Every time you deal with something you never have before, it’s an opportunity to grow. I just follow the procedures. Ask the administration…the people one campus…how I should handle it. Follow everything. I think that’s the best thing you can do when you’re not used to going through a situation. A Title IX investigation is obviously something you hand over to the authorities and let them do their jobs, and get out of the way. Participate when asked to be a part of it. When not asked, stay away from it.
  • Will Richardson’s situation was different. Something I’d been through many times.

On New Face Defense…

  • Anytime the media attention is on who is gone, versus who is returning, you’re going to have a chip on your shoulder.
  • It’s an opportunity for those guys to prove themselves. They are excited for their opportunity.
