VIDEO: RT Justin Witt Talks Getting to Start 2018 Season Opener

Sophomore OT Justin Witt talks about being named the starter and how valuable his experience was starting in last season’s opener (due to Will Richardson’s suspension). The full interview is above and the bulleted highlights are below.

  • Same mentality from the beginning. Be the best group on the field and dominate every game.
  • Getting to play opener last year was huge. It was motivation coming into this year. Got to see what the speed was like at this level.
  • Great experience playing behind Will Richardson. Taught me everything I’m doing now. Helped on and off the field. Really pushed me and worked extra with me.
  • (On how tight competition for starting role with Tyrone Riley helped him) Both going out there doing our best. Needed each other so we could push each other.
  • Jones, Prescod, and Bradbury probably closest friends on the team. Make sure everyone on OL is together, pushing each other on and off the field. Pretty much a brotherhood.
  • Loved every single moment since I’ve been here. Tight-knit group. Almost family.
  • Biggest thing coming in as a starter is to not be complacent. Keep pushing. Keep working. Keep getting better.
