VIDEO: QB Ryan Finley Talks after NC State Beats JMU 24-13 in Opener

• • I think we have to better in a lot of different areas. So many areas. Too many to speak on. We will watch the film many times.
  • It was good to get out with a win. Start 1-0.
  • Redshirt Sophomore CJ Riley made a heck of a catch in the end zone. Just threw it up there. Tall guy…went up there and got it. It was fun to see him get in the end zone.
  • Redshirt Junior Jakobi Meyers really played his heart out. Made some really tough grabs. When he says just put it in his area code, I think he means it. Just give him the chance and Jakobi is going to make the play. Really proud of him.
  • JMU’s QB DiNuccci is fun to watch. Makes plays with his feet. He’s electric. Threw some really nice balls with pressure in his face.
  • I’ve just got to do my job. Our scheme is too good. Our players are too good. Everyone has to do their job. If we do that, we’re going to win a lot of games.
  • One thing we are going to have to work on, is when we get in the red zone, what use our best plays. We need to play smart, but not conservative. When we get into the red zone, we have to get touchdowns. Period.
  • I think mistakes happen the first game of a season. Stuff we’ve got to clean up. Young guys.
  • Redshirt Freshman Thayer Thomas deserved that (TD). He’s a really hard worker. He deserves everything coming his way.
  • Takes pride in their third down conversion rate. If you win on third down, your more than likely going to win the game. You win third down, you stay on the field. Kind of how our offense operates…long drives.
  • It was hot out there. Definitely saw some fatigue set in. There were times we had to get guys going.
