NC State Captain Stephen Louis Out for the Season

It was announced at Dave Doeren’s press conference that NC State Redshirt Graduate Senior Wide Receiver Stephen Louis will miss the remainder of the season. Doeren found out today that Louis will be having surgery to repair a high ankle sprain. Louis didn’t play in the season opener due to a hamstring injury, and was knocked out of the Georgia State game after 19 plays due to concussion protocol. Louis suffered his most recent injury against Clemson, and it was thought at first that he had broken his leg.

Louis redshirted the 2015 season after having surgery on both shoulders, so technically, according to the rules, his college football career should be done on paper.

With that being said, Doeren mentioned that they had already reached out to compliance to see if a medical hardship was a possibility for Louis, which would grant him a 6th year of eligibility. The NCAA would ultimately have to approve the waiver.

Doeren said he hadn’t even talked to Louis yet about the possibility of a 6th year. If he were interested, and it was approved by the NCAA, Doeren said he would be back to full strength around January or February.

From the tone and wording of the following tweet from Louis, I think his time playing football for NC State is officially over.
