Dating back to 1894 (oldest series among ACC teams), UNC has held the upper hand in their series against the Wolfpack, winning 61.7% of the games (66-35-6). In recent memory, the tables have turned, with NC State winning 61.1% of rivalry games since 2000 (11 of 18), and 8 of the last 11. The Tar Heels’ home-field advantage hasn’t been strong over the Wolfpack, winning only 3 of the last 9 games in Chapel Hill since Y2K.

The recent dominance over the Tar Heels hasn’t been expected, at least to the people who set the betting lines in Vegas. The Wolfpack enters today’s matchup as 7-point favorites, but they have only been the favorite in 8 of the 18 games since the turn of the century.

Dave Doeren boasts a 3-2 record over North Carolina, but has yet to lose in Chapel Hill, winning their in 2016 (28-21) and 2014 (35-7).
