After going 4-1 last week, including winning 2 out of 3 over #2 FSU (last weeks ranking) over the weekend, the NC State (19-1) Baseball team is ranked #1 in the nation in any poll for the first time in school history.

The Collegiate Baseball Poll moved the Wolfpack up from the #2 team in the land, to the TOP team in America.

Here’s what they had to say about the Pack:

TUCSON, Ariz. — N.C. State (19-1) is ranked No. 1 in the latest Collegiate Baseball NCAA Div. I baseball poll presented by Big League Chew.

It marks the first time in Wolfpack history the team has been No. 1 in baseball by any poll. N.C. State started the season with 19 straight wins before losing the finale of a 3-game series against Florida St. The Wolfpack won the 3-game series, two games to one.

N.C. State (5-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference) has belted 55 doubles (No. 1 in nation) and 23 homers in 20 games and is averaging 8.8 runs per game. On defense, the Wolfpack has only committed 11 errors all season (third in nation with .985 fielding percentage).

Florida St., ranked No. 1 the previous two weeks, fell to 14th this week after losing three times last week. Among the losses were a 20-7 setback against Florida and 16-0 loss to N.C. State. (Link)

The USAToday Coaches Poll moved NC state up 7 spots to #5.

Baseball America moved the Wolfpack up 15 spots to #6.

D1Baseball moved the Pack up 14 spots to #6.

Perfect Game moved NC State up 9 spots to #8.

We are still waiting for the NCBWA to release their weekly poll (ranked 18th last week), but I’m gonna go on a hunch here and say that the Wolfpack will be Consensus Top-10 team.
