NFL Hall of Famer & NC State Legend Bill Cowher Gives Pep Talk at Practice

The NC State Football team had a surprise guest giving some nuggets of wisdom today at practice. Former Pittsburgh Steelers Head Coach Bill Cowher, who is a member of the NFL Hall of Fame was on the scene.

As a lifelong Wolfpack fan, and die hard Steelers fan, I wish I could have been there to hear the speech.

Cowher isn’t a stranger to NC State…he’s family, playing Linebacker for the Wolfpack from 1975-78. In fact, Cowher still holds the record for the most tackles in a single season at NC State, with 195 in 1978. His 176 tackles in 1977 rank 3rd.

On two occasions, Cowher racked up 24 tackles in a single game, which ranks 2nd in school history.

Cowher’s 371 career tackles rank 7th in NC State history.
