NC State Defeats Northern Iowa to Win the Journeyman Collegiate Duals

After defeating #25 Cal-Poly and #19 Lehigh on Monday, the NC State Wrestling team advanced to the finals of the Journeyman Collegiate Duals against #19 Northern Iowa.

On Tuesday night, the #7 Wolfpack defeated #22 Northern Iowa 22-12 to take home the trophy, beating the Panthers for the first time ever.

After winning the Journeyman Collegiate Duals, the Wolfpack have bumped up one spot to #6 in the Coaches Poll.

The Wolfpack will be back on the mat on January 6th, when they host Binghamton.

#6 NC State Wrestling Crushed Binghamton 36-3 Over the Weekend

NC State’s 6th ranked Wrestling team was back in action this weekend, crushing Binghamton 36-3. The Wolfpack are now 9-0 this year in duals.

NC State Coach Popolizio is now 4-0 in duals against Binghamton, who he coached from 2007-12.

Hidlay and Trephan both picked up ranked wins.

#7 NC State Wrestling Picks Up Two Top-25 Dual Wins on Opening Day of Journeyman Collegiate Duals

The 7th ranked NC State Wrestling Team won both of their duals last night at the Journeyman Collegiate Duals in New Orleans, both coming against Top-25 teams.

In the opening match, the Wolfpack defeated #25 Cal-Poly convincingly, to the tune of 33-3.

In the next dual, NC State beat #19 Lehigh 24-10. This marks the first time the Wolfpack has ever beaten Lehigh, going 0-10 against them in a series dating back to 1976.

NC State is now 7-0 in duals this year, and will face #19 Northern Iowa in the Championship at 5pm. The Wolfpack have never defeated Northern Iowa in a dual, going 0-5 agains the Panthers.

The NC State Wrestling Team fell one spot to #9 after winning both duals over the weekend up in Pennsylvania, against Lock Haven & #17 Nebraska. How you fall in the rankings after winning two duals, with one of them being over a ranked team, I have no idea.
