NC State vs. Duke: A Historical Perspective

Today marks the 84th time that NC State and Duke have played one another, in a series that dates back to 1924. Duke holds the overall record (41-27-5), but since 1990, NC State has won 15 of the last 18. The Wolfpack have a winning record over the Blue Devils at home (21-17-4), but it’s their struggles on the road that have given them an overall losing record in the series, posting a 16-24-1 record at their place.

NC State and Duke played each other annually from 1924 to 2003. After expansion, the meeting of these cross town rivals has been few and far between, playing 4 times since 2004. Doeren has only played Duke twice, splitting the two games. The only time a Doeren led team has played at Duke was during his first season in 2013, where they lost 20-38.

Duke enters this game ranked 17th, marking the first time NC State has played a ranked Blue Devils team since 1994.
