#18 NC State will play #25 Kansas State in the Pop-Tarts Bowl in Orlando on December 28th. Despite the fact that this is the 1st ever Pop-Tarts Bowl, it’s not the first time this bowl has been played, it just has carried a variety of different names through the years. NC State is 2-1 since this bowl game has been played in Orlando, and 3-2 when you count the games when the bowl was played in Miami.

Back in 2003, NC State played Kansas in the Tangerine Bowl in Orlando, and at that time, Dave Doeren was an Assistant Coach for the Jayhawks, coaching the Linebackers. The Wolfpack defeated Kansas 56-26, in what still stands today as the best offensive performance by an NC State football team in a bowl game. A Quarterback by the name of Philip Rivers was the signal caller for the Wolfpack back then.

Here’s a look at all of the NC State Team Bowl Records that were set and are still standing from that game:

Points: 56
First Downs: 34
Total Offense: 653
Pass Completions: 38
Passing Yards: 481
