This past Saturday, 2026 Quarterback Ely Hamrick (6’4″/205) was at NC State for their Junior Day. I caught up with Hamrick to get his take on his experience.
Can you describe what the format of the day was? What did you do?
We showed up at 11, got registered, then went to eat lunch. The coaches welcomed us while we were registering and then came and ate with us. After that we listened to Coach Doeren speak about the program and accolades. After this, we spent the rest of the time in position meetings and touring the football center.
What was your favorite part of the experience?
My favorite part was the position meetings because there was a small amount of QB’s, so it was pretty individualized. I had conversations with almost one staff member in each department. Coach Roper told me he was going to come and visit me and watch me throw this Spring.
Where does NC State currently stand in your recruitment? What schools are currently ranking the highest for you?
NC State would be close to the top of my list because that was my childhood favorite team since my dad (Ryan Hamrick/WR) played there.
_________
Hamrick is from North Carolina, but played this past season at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. This past season, Hamrick threw for 1,244 yards, 18 touchdowns and 0 interceptions in 9 games.
Ryan Hamrick, Ely’s father, was a Wide Receiver at NC State in the late 1990’s, who caught 33 passes for 540 yards and 2 touchdowns (1998-90).
Currently, Hamrick doesn’t hold an offer from NC State, but does hold an offer from Kentucky and Toledo, but considering the other schools he has camped at and been recruited by, I expect his offer list to grow extensively.
This past Fall, he also visited, Duke, Miami, Florida and UCF.
