3-Star 2025 Interior Offensive Lineman Isaac Sowells Jr. (6’2″/292) attended NC State’s Junior Day this past Saturday. I caught up with Sowells Jr. to get his take on the experience.
Can you describe what the format of the day was? What did you do?
I got in around 9 o’clock to get my photo shoot and my first meeting of the day with Coach 2J, and watched my special presentation. Then we got to tour around the facilities and talk to the strength and conditioning staff, and then I had another meeting with Coach 2J. I also got to meet with Coach Doeren. Then we got to meet with the player development team and then I had my last meeting with Coach 2J.
What was your favorite part of the experience?
My favorite part of the day was watching film with Coach 2J, and him pointing out the things that I did, and the things that he thought I could improve on.
Were you able to have any conversations with the coaching staff? If so, how did that go? What’s their recruiting pitch to you?
The recruiting pitch from Coach 2J was that I’m his number one guy. He wants me there so he can help me develop, and become not only just a better player, but a better man.
What’s your relationship like with Coach 2J?
Me and Coach 2J talk all the time. Me and him make sure to keep a good relationship and stay consistent with each other.
What did it mean to you for NC State to come visit you in school this past week?
It meant a lot since they knew that I was coming that weekend, but to come see me at school was like a cherry on top.
Where does NC State currently stand in your recruitment? What schools are currently ranking the highest for you?
I can confidently say that they are leading the Pack…no pun intended. I would say they are a top school for me, and very much a priority. South Carolina, Louisville, Miami, and West Virginia.
__________
NC State offered Sowells Jr. back on August 20th of last year. He also holds offers from West Virginia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Penn St., Wake Forest, UVA, Virginia Tech, Miami, Duke, ECU, Indiana others. ON3 and Rivals both rank Sowells Jr. as the #4 player in the state of Kentucky.
Sowells Jr. visited Louisville today.
All I see is a bunch of 3 stars kids. We need to getting four stars if we ever expect to get out of our present level. Guess Doeren needs an excuse each year.
