PI EXCLUSIVE: 4-Star Safety JaDon Blair Breaks Down NC State Junior Day Experience

Published

on

This past Saturday, 4-Star 2025 Safety JaDon Blair (6’4″/180) attended NC State’s Junior Day. I caught up with Blair to get his take on the experience.

Can you describe what the format of the day was? What did you do?

They were really just trying to show me how I would fit in and how much I could be of use in their program. I had a couple of meetings personally with some of the coaches, just showing me the defense and where I would be at making most of the plays.

What was your favorite part of the experience?

My favorite part was when I was sitting in Coach Freddie’s (Aughtry-Lindsay/Nickels Coach) office and we were just talking about NC State, and how I could make them so much better and help the defense be elite, like the direction they already are headed.

Were you able to have any conversations with the coaching staff? If so, how did that go? What’s their recruiting pitch to you? What’s your relationship like with them? With Coach Gibson?

Yes, I had a lot of conversations with the coaching staff, including the Head Coach, the Defensive Coordinator and the Nickels Coach, just explaining to me how I could even possibly play both sides of the ball over there, because they like me on offense to. With my range and how I can run and move, they said I could play either side of the hall. It’s just up to me, and how my body grows

Where does NC State currently stand in your recruitment? What schools are currently ranking the highest for you?

NC State has always been a solid school for me and just learning about them and the program, it definitely ups the chances with me personally. I talk to schools like Penn State, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Michigan, and Louisville a lot, so the relationship piece is there with those schools. That’s why I could say they are ranked extremely high to me

_____

ON3, 247Sports and Rivals rank Blair as a 4-Star prospect. All three rank him as a Top-300 player nationally. ON3 almost has him ranked as a 5-star prospect, sitting at #28 overall nationally. They also rank him as the #2 Safety in the 2025 recruiting class, and the #2 player in the state of North Carolina.

NC State offered Blair a little over a week ago on January 16th. He also holds offers from Penn St., Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Louisville, Notre Dame, FSU, Maryland, Georgia Tech, Duke, South Carolina, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Tennessee, West Virginia and others.

This Fall, Blair had 57 tackles, 3 tackles for loss and 4 interceptions for Mt. Tabor (Winston-Salem, NC). On offense, he had 10 receptions for 255 yards and 6 touchdowns.

ON3 ranks Pavey as the #4 player in the state of Kentucky (Robert A. Taft High/Burlington, KY)

NC State has already made quite the impression. They only offered him on April 24th. Getting an Official Visit scheduled a week after offering a player is a good sign.

When Pavey released his Top-8 back in February, NC State was obviously on the list. It consisted of Miami (OH), Toledo, Boston College, West Virginia, Pitt, Cincinnati, Indiana and Purdue. Wisconsin is also new to the scene, offering Pavey on April 21st.

As a Junior, Pavey had 46 tackles 7.5 sacks and 9 tackles for loss.

4-Star Safety Jontae Gilbert Has Locked in an Official Visit to NC State

Published

on

4-Star 2025 Safety Jontae Gilbert (6’1″/180) confirmed with me that he has locked in an Official Visit to NC State for the weekend of September 27-29, and he plans for it to be his last Official Visit.

Back in July of 2022, Gilbert committed to Ohio St., but last July he decommitted from the Buckeyes.

Gilbert also has Official Visits scheduled for UCF, South Carolina and USC.

At one point, Gilbert was a 5-star prospect, but now he is a consensus 4-star prospect, and a consensus Top-275 player. Rivals ranks him as the #70 overall player nationally in the 2025 recruiting class, and the #8 player in the state of Georgia.

NC State offered Gilbert in April of last year.

Recently, he has taken unofficial visits to, or been visited by Louisville, Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia St., Oregon, Clemson, Texas and South Carolina.

While he doesn’t have an Official Visit set up with Georgia, the Bulldogs are obviously a big player in Gilbert’s recruitment.

Gilbert plays for Douglass High School in Atlanta, Georgia.
