The Denver Broncos Are Releasing Russell Wilson

Everyone saw this coming, but the Denver Broncos officially announced they will be releasing former NC State Quarterback Russell Wilson on March 13th.

Wilson had this to say to Broncos Nation.

The Broncos didn’t want to continue with Wilson as their starting Quarterback, no matter how much it cost. Denver will take on $85 million in Dead Cap, which is an NFL record. In fact, it’s more than the prior two Dead Cap records combined.

By releasing him now, they are saving themselves from paying Wilson an additional $37 million in guaranteed money.

Where will Wilson play next season? According to Vegas, the Pittsburgh Steelers are the odds on favorite to acquire Wilson’s services.

The thought by many, is that Wilson is expected to sign for the league minimum, which is $1.21 million, because the Broncos will still be paying him his 2024 salary.

It will be interesting to say the least to see how this unfolds.
