Earlier this week, NC State wasn’t even projected to go to the NIT. After winning the 2024 ACC Tournament, the Wolfpack found their way into the NCAA Tournament through the only means possible…becoming Conference Champions.
This marks the first time NC State has gone to the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back seasons since 2014-15 (the Wolfpack actually went to the Big Dance 2012-2015).
This marks the 29th time that NC State has gone to the NCAA Tournament. Yes, I’m ignoring the fact that NC State vacated their appearances in the 1987 and 1988 NCAA Tournaments.
The 29 appearances rank 27th in College Basketball history, and will likely rank 3oth tomorrow, after Selection Sunday.
The Wolfpack are 37-27 in the NCAA Tournament, winning their last game in the Big Dance back in 2015, when the Wolfpack advanced to the Sweet 16.
NC State has won 2 National Titles, which is tied for the 9th most in College Basketball history. The Wolfpack are one of only 15 schools to win multiple National Championships.
The Wolfpack have gone to the Final 4 three times (1950, 1974, 1983), which is tied for the 28th most appearances.
NC State has been to the Elite 8 six times (1950, 1951, 1974, 1983, 1985, 1986) and the Sweet 16 thirteen times (1951, 1952, 1954, 1965, 1970, 1974, 1983, 1985, 1986, 1989, 2005, 2012, 2015).
The Wolfpack will find out what seed they will be in the Big Dance tonight at 6pm.
