NC State vs. Texas Tech: A Historical Perspective

NC State and Texas Tech will be playing one another for the 4th time today, but the last time they played was in 1954.

For perspective, the ACC was formed in 1953.

The Wolfpack are 2-1 against the Red Raiders, with all three of the previous games being played in Raleigh.

The first matchup between NC State and Texas Tech was in 1951. The Wolfpack were the #10 team in the nation, but that didn’t stop the Red Raiders from going into enemy territory, and walking away with a 63-62 upset.

The following year, NC State would get their revenge. The 6th ranked Wolfpack defeated Texas Tech 80-55 in a convincing manner.

Two years later, #4 NC State beat the Red Raiders 85-74.
