PI EXCLUSIVE: 3-Star OL Michael Gibbs Breaks Down Spring Game Visit

Published

on

This past Saturday, 3-Star 2025 Offensive Lineman Michael Gibbs (6’3.5″/280) was in town for NC State’s 2024 Spring Game. I caught up with him to get his thoughts.

What were your overall thoughts of the game? What excited you about the way this team played?

The game was great! It was my first ever spring game and the atmosphere was exciting. Lots of fans. It was cool to be in town with all the basketball buzz, and perfect weather. Seeing a Senior QB and a Freshman QB compete was huge. Both of them are leaders in their own way and that comes out in play for sure. I loved seeing Coach Doeren on the field as they played up close and in the mix of everything. He’s such a hands on coach.

Who stood out you from the game?

The fan base, the band, the dance team. It was cool. They all showed up strong for the team. Watching the guys be really comfortable with each other, but still go hard against each other was great. It definitely got physical and made me want some action!

Did you get to interact with any of the players? Do you have any relationships with any of the Wolfpack players?

I got to interact with the commits from my class, which was cool. Will (Wilson) and Gus (Ritchey) and I talked and exchanged numbers. They’re good dudes and it was nice to start that relationship. The players were all pretty focused on the game, but my mom and I love watching and talking with AB (Anthony Belton) when we can.

What were your interactions with the Coaches like?

I love seeing the NCSU coaches! Coach Doeren and Coach 2J are so welcoming. Coach Anae is Samoan, and I am half Samoan, so I got to speak a little of the language I know to him and we love having that Polynesian connection!

Where does NC State currently in your recruitment?

NCSU is definitely close to my heart. The offer call I got from coach 2J still really sticks out to me more than any other because my mom actually got to record it and everything he spoke of was just relatable and genuine. He talked to me about transparency on Saturday and that is honestly who he is and how the team functions. That means a lot to me when it comes to who I trust and where I want to spend my college life.

4-Star Safety Jontae Gilbert Has Locked in an Official Visit to NC State

Published

on

4-Star 2025 Safety Jontae Gilbert (6’1″/180) confirmed with me that he has locked in an Official Visit to NC State for the weekend of September 27-29, and he plans for it to be his last Official Visit.

Back in July of 2022, Gilbert committed to Ohio St., but last July he decommitted from the Buckeyes.

Gilbert also has Official Visits scheduled for UCF, South Carolina and USC.

At one point, Gilbert was a 5-star prospect, but now he is a consensus 4-star prospect, and a consensus Top-275 player. Rivals ranks him as the #70 overall player nationally in the 2025 recruiting class, and the #8 player in the state of Georgia.

NC State offered Gilbert in April of last year.

Recently, he has taken unofficial visits to, or been visited by Louisville, Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia St., Oregon, Clemson, Texas and South Carolina.

While he doesn’t have an Official Visit set up with Georgia, the Bulldogs are obviously a big player in Gilbert’s recruitment.

Gilbert plays for Douglass High School in Atlanta, Georgia.

When I spoke with Alston in the past, he said NC State would be at the top of his list.
